Let Grow

The McChord Foundation is proud to support Let Grow, an organization dedicated to promoting childhood independence, resilience and free play. Let Grow’s mission is to empower children to build confidence, strengthen problem solving skills and develop the lifelong tools they need to thrive.

The Let Grow experience starts with a homework assignment to “Go home and do something new, on your own. Climb a tree, run an errand, make a meal…” The initial homework assignment sets the foundation for an “I can do it myself” attitude and empowers parents to step back and start building resilience, confidence, and self direction at home.

Our support has helped Let Grow expand by providing the staff and outreach needed to connect with a broader segment of families and schools. We fully support the mission and hope to see it flourish at home, in classrooms, and across the country. Let Grow is trying to make it easy, normal and legal to give kids the independence they need to become capable, confident, and happy adults.
